I would like to take the opportunity to spotlight a Foot Chase sponsor in my next several posts. In this post I would like to give the honors to Crimson Trace, the makers of laser sighting tools for firearms, particularly handguns. In the interest of full disclosure, I use Crimson Trace products on both my duty sidearm and my off-duty handgun. But that is because I found their products first and became a believer in them before I approached the company about sponsoring this event. I have found that the my laser sights give me pinpoint accuracy with my shot placement, particularly in low light situations. And that not only makes me safer, but also innocent members of the public who might be in the area if I am forced to make lethal force decisions.
For several years now, Crimson Trace has donated sets of laser grips that we have used as prizes for the fastest law enforcement professionals who have participated in our events. Through their generous donations, Crimson Trace has not only helped to support MICOPS, but they have also helped to make Michigan officers safer on our streets, and our public safer overall. PS: Our law enforcement winner from 2005 took home a pair of Crimson Trace laser grips to his suburban Detroit agency. Not long afterward, he found himself confronting a subject in the nighttime shadows of a dark backyard who was armed with a handgun. He aimed his sidearm at the subject and without thinking about it, the red dot from his laser sights appeared on the subject's chest. The subject realized it and immediately dropped his weapon. I credit Crimson Trace for possibly saving a life that night. Again, Bravo Crimson Trace!
